HIGHCLERE'S WEEKLY NEWS
19/7/22
It was an exciting week for Highclere Australia with our Highland Reel filly, Highland Cathedral having her debut run at Gosford. She has always shown terrific staying ability so the 1200m was always going to be too short and a Heavy track is less than ideal for a horse having their first start but to her credit with those things against her he began well, strode to the front and even managed to fight on in the straight to narrowly hold second place. It was a very pleasing debut and she will only take improvement from the run and be better when she gets out over a longer journey. She has come through the run in terrific order and will look for another race over slightly longer in the coming weeks.
We certainly haven’t been keeping her a secret so we hope a few of you managed to jump in the ownership and see a quick return. If not there may be a share or Two but be quick, based on that debut they won’t last long.
Here’s hoping for more good results this week when Bartholomeu Dias is back in action, we are hoping the rain holds off in QLD so he can get a slighter drier track. He has been going terrific since his change of location to the Annabel Neasham stable so hopefully, with a better surface on Saturday, he can salute again.
We were hoping to see the long-awaited return of Durston this weekend but once again the weather gods appear to be against us and his return could be postponed, but he is going well so hopefully the patience is rewarded when he does make his return.
Korolev and Olympic Theatre continue to impress their trainers in their work and will look to be trialling in a couple of weeks' time. While Armageddon is only a few weeks behind them and after his let up Great House is back in the main stables and will look to be trialling around the same time as Armageddon so there will be plenty to keep your eye on in the coming months.
As always make sure you keep an eye on our socials so you don’t miss a thing.
