GREAT HOUSE - GREAT WIN!
January 31, 2021
Chris Waller had a slow start at Rosehill on Saturday but the champion trainer was back in the winner’s stall a race later with Hichlere Australia's emerging import Great House, who boasts an incredible northern hemisphere pedigree.
Waller says the son of Galileo will continue through the grades but he is open to raising the bar to stakes grade if the horse continues to improve.
“There is a nice 2400 metre race for him in two weeks time and beyond that, who knows? He is very talented,” Waller said.
Having just his second local start after pleasing on debut at Flemington, Great House was sent up to Waller's Sydney base to contest Saturday's race - and after running his last 600m of 37.58, he bounded clear on a soft 7 track, three lengths faster than the next best from runner-up Harpo Marx (38.04) who was conceding 5kg to the winner.
He powered into the race running 12.27 from the 400m to 200m and even though he was allowed to coast in the latter stages by Tommy Berry, Great House still ran a last 200m of 12.90 and no other horse was anywhere near breaking 13 seconds for that section.
It is an exciting time ahead for the owners and with plenty of opportunities to get invovled and race with Highclere Australia, the future looks very exciting.
