Edison (AUS) is one of Highclere Australia's stalwarts, having won six of his 19 starts and accumulating almost $500,000 in prizemoney.
Contesting stakes races from early in his three-year-old career, Edison has been a warhorse season after season. A winner from 1300m to 1500m, he was named NSW BOBS Horse of the Year for the 2019-20 season, sweeping to the top of the ladder after back-to-back Saturday wins in July, 2020.
By multiple champion sire Fastnet Rock, Edison is the first foal out of Street Cry mare A Million Tears, a winner at 1600m in her short career. A Million Tears is a half-sister to Gr.1 Australasian Oaks heroine Invest, with both out of Group 1-winning mare Unearthly.
Bred by John Camilleri, who is best known for breeding legendary mare Winx and Golden Slipper winner Vancouver, Edison was purchased by Highclere Australia for $310,000 at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Bloodstock advisor John Warren described him as “a lovely colt that has everything you would hope to see in a high-class prospect”.
